Recovering from a Vaginal Birth

The secret to those first few weeks after giving birth?

Prioritising your recovery!

You may have learnt all about how labour works and finalised your birth plan, but have you thought about what recovery will look like afterward?

Navigating your postpartum recovery can feel overwhelming, but with the right education and care, you can feel more comfortable and supported.

Here are a few tips to help you heal:
✔️ Pain Management: Follow your healthcare provider’s advice on pain relief. Regular paracetamol and ibuprofen can be a great starting place.
✔️ Heat/Ice: Heat packs can ease afterbirth pains, while ice packs can reduce perineal discomfort and swelling.
✔️ Rest: Make horizontal rest a priority and nap whenever you can. Your body needs time to heal.
✔️ Hydrate: Drinking plenty of water helps keep you hydrated and prevents constipation.
✔️ Hygiene: Keep the perineal area clean and dry to support healing.
✔️ Monitor Bleeding: Change your pad regularly and keep an eye on your bleeding.
✔️ Ask for Help: Lean on your support system - whether it’s baby care or household tasks, let others help lighten your load.
✔️ Know the Red Flags: If anything feels off, don’t hesitate to contact your healthcare provider.

Healing takes time, and every recovery journey is unique. Give yourself grace and remember - you’re doing an amazing job, mama! ❤️
