Hi, I'm Tam Carrington - registered midwife, mum of two and founder of Nurtured Beginnings Maternity.
Birth planning can feel confusing and overwhelming - and so many parents tell me they "didn't even know what they didn't know."
I created this workbook because I saw too many women entering birth unprepared, unheard and unsupported - not because they didn't care, but because no one gave them the tools to prepare.
I wanted to create something clear and accessible that would help you feel supported, informed and empowered as you prepare for one of the most meaningful experiences of your life.
You deserve a birth experience that feels respected, understood and aligned with your values.
This workbook is what I wish every expecting mum had - something that makes birth feel less scary, more supported and more yours
I'm here for you 💕
✔️ You’re birthing in a hospital and want to feel more prepared
✔️ You’re a first-time mum who feels overwhelmed by all the conflicting advice
✔️ You want to understand your options, without being told what to do
✔️ You value evidence-based guidance that’s reassuring and non-judgemental
✔️ You want to walk into birth feeling empowered and supported
You’ve got questions. I’ve got answers.
A: Whenever you like! Ideally, I recommend completing it early in your third trimester. This gives you time to really think about your preferences and what is important to you. It also allows time to research and ask questions to your healthcare providers to ensure you are fully informed in all your options. However, you can complete it at any stage during pregnancy.
A: You’ll get instant access to your online portal, where you can download the birth preferences and start right away. The template is easy to use and comes in a PDF format for quick access.
A: No! This guide is for anyone preparing for birth, whether it’s your first baby or your third. While you may have experience, every birth is different. This guide helps you create an intentional plan for a birth.
A: No! This covers preferences for all types of birth including vaginal birth, vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC) or a caesarean birth. These preferences can also be used for an induction of labour. It outlines preferences for all options and also preferences for when thing don't go to plan.
A: Absolutely! It’s important for you and your partner to be on the same page. By working through the guide together, you’ll be able to make informed decisions as a team. It's also important your partner and healthcare providers are familiar with your preferences so they can advocate for you.
A: Of course! Email me at hello@nurturedbeginningsmaternity.com.au or send me a DM on Instagram - I’d love to help you feel confident in your decision.
